Scout groups are volunteer run organisations, and as such rely on parents, past members and others in the community genorously giving their time to enable the group to provide the actitivities for the youth members. Volunteering for your local scout group is a great way to give back to your community, learn new skills, get outdoors and meet new people. Everyone has a skill that can be used to contribute. You might be a keen camper who loves getting outdoors, have accounting, gardening, carpentry, promotion, fund raising, even sewing skills! All of these and more can contribute to the vibrancy and success of the group.
At Mosman Bay Sea Scouts we can also offer volunteers opportunities to learn skills such as power boat driving and sailing.
We do ask that parents of our youth members attend a regular session on an alphabetical roster system, to help the leaders deliver that session.
We need all kind of volunteers in Scouts. Some of the roles available are:
- Leaders of Youth such as Cub Scout and Scout Leaders who mentor and inspire our Youth and deliver the Youth Program. Leaders receive ongoing training and professional development opportunities as well as access to free or discounted accreditation in various fields such as First Aid, Recreation and Business. Our Leaders have an incredible wealth of knowledge and enjoy the fellowship, fun and new experiences that Scouting provides.
- Adult Helpers are adults who commit to attending Scouting meetings and activities regularly to assist with the hands-on elements of Scouting, but choose not to become a Leader. Adult Helpers have access to training and professional development opportunities, mentor and inspire our Youth, and are an important element of our Group.
- Committee Members are adults who meet regularly to oversee the financial and management aspects of the Scout Group. They work together with the Group Leader, often utilising their own professional and personal experiences to help implement the Groups' goals and values.
Join our team and help us make a difference - and have fun while doing it!
